Does shared hosting matter? Want to boost old site

I have a hostgator account that I have more than five sites hosted on, including my main money site. (I have other sites hosted on other hosting accounts.) On the hostgator account, I would like to boost SERP for one of the old sites. It's several years old and does get some good SERP for some long-tail keywords. Should I move it to another hosting account before I add new content to boost SERP? I think the domains were also created at the same registrar. Does shared hosting and/or registering the domain names on the same registrar matter? Does "footprint" matter -- I recall this term from SEO chatter years back.

EDIT: Here is a very recent article and I watched the Matt Cutts video on this page and he says it doesn't matter for the most everybody. So, I guess I will not be concerned.
