If you get high quality backlinks from local websites, then searchers from your geographic location can easily locate the website. However, this may not be the case if someone searching from another country unless yours is the only website unique to the keywords used.

If you are targeting a particular place or a region definitely by submitting in local listing sites helps. But you can't concentrate on keywords here. Just submit your website URL and add the contact details including phone number and ZIP code correctly.. By doing this you can get double traffic than some other link building method..
