I saw one of my website's article got a do follow back link in a Swedish news site. They wrote an article and gave reference to my sites article. That site PR7 and the link was do follow link (checked by moz tool) . However, the site was in swidish language . I want to know how will it affect me.

    Most definitely yes.

Language does play a factor, but a PR 7 link is a PR 7 link.

And the fact that it's a contextual link is going to help even more.

Contextual links are the best and safest kind these days...

  • Having a backlink from a PR 7 site (regardless if it is an English or foreign site) will still affect your ranking as page rank still is considered as one ranking factor. This can help you rank higher on SERPs.

For negative effect, I guess not much since this is only one backlink. Perhaps if you have a lot of backlinks from foreign sites, it can lead to penalty.

If it is related to your niche, then really helps in ranking. My blog article was too used in German forum and that was dofollow link and never got penalized as it was related to my niche.
If it is not to your niche are may be used link for some other purpose means you have disavow it.

The more important thing here to consider is the PR of the website. A PR7 is awesome!!. Google is bound to give importance to a link that comes from PR7 website. rest assured the language wll not have any great negative effect. Even if it has some, it will be way outweighed by the positives...

The only thing that matters is relevance and value-add. If having your link there adds value to the visitors of the PR 7 site, then it will help your SEO.

    Cheers.

There's no such thing as "PR7 site". Why do you think it's called pagerank? The actual news item drops very fast, and the page is probably only linked from achive or something like that.

It's a decent backlink, but it's nowhere near PR7 link.

Language should not matter. Unless all of your links come from Sweden which might make Google suspect that your site has something to do with that country.

      Just so you know...

From wiki:"PageRank was named after Larry Page, one of the founders of Google."

The fact that the website was able to obtain PR7 on one of it's pages adds authority to the link, even if it will not transfer PR7 level LinkJuice.

What do you think this "authority" is? Some kind of magical power that lurks in the background?

The point I was trying to make is that one archived news item isn't that big of a deal.

The fact that you put > authority < in quotes points out that you may never have even heard of this before.

I tried to polity educate you a bit about something you we're misinformed about, and misinforming others about,

PageRank is not the only measurement Google uses. That is why a n/a PageRank page can often be in the top SERP.... because the website itself already carries authority.

No, you haven't explained a single thing in this thread. Well, apart from that factoid about Pagerank's history. Conveniently that name happens to fit the purpose of the algorithm, does it not? That's why I use this shorthand, but I'm sure it'll keep getting your panties in a bunch.

For a page to be considered authoritative it needs to have backlinks. They may be internal or external, but they have to be here.

Person who doesn't have anything at all to say will start talking about an avatar image. Happens all the time, although not that much on this forum.

And you posted two links that describe Moz's own ranking system and metrics.

The reason Moz and others rank whole sites and domains in this manner is to give some information on a quick glance. Unfortunately people don't realize this, but act as if these metrics are the Word from Google or something. In addition such a score tells you nothing about the internal link structures, or backlinks to particular pieces of content.

Nope, pretty much every natural link should only benefit so long as Google doesn't make some grievous error.

My feeling is that you might get a small boost in Swedish traffic from Google, and maybe a smaller boost in other languages as well.

I don't think this will effect as long as the link is natural and relevant.
