No 3rd party software will show all the competition links. Most are junked up with social fluff that has nothing to do with ranking pages in the SERPs.

Use the trials, see which one you prefer for links.

Unfortunately, Google won't show us all the links either. So far, I like ahrefs, but $179/month is not a gamble I like - I'd rather risk that at the poker table.

So, which do you, Yukon, prefer?

I use Spyglass but it can be slow unless you change the settings to only check one or two things at a time. If your wanting to check links, turn off everything that involves social (unnecessary fluff).

I really like ahrefs, used to use spyglass a few years ago but in my opinion ahrefs is pretty much the top platform nowadays.

I totally disagree with that. SEMRush sucks at checking links compared to the top dogs out there which are Majestic SEO and Ahrefs.

I prefer Majestic. In general, I have found that Ahrefs finds more links, but there is rarely a time where there are any good links that one of the services finds which the other doesn't. What tips the scales for me in Majestic's favor is their metrics are far better than the metrics Ahrefs publishes.

I like to use something like SEO SpyGlass to import the links from Majestic (plus you get the links from the WebMeUp database for free), and analyze which links actually exist.

I just want to see what my competition has for links and get them also. Seems like ahrefs and majestic would both do that.

Majestic and Ahrefs are the two tools I'd recommend for checking backlinks. There are small discrepancies between the two however, but using both typically uncovers close to hundred percent of links.
