Haven't had experiences, but SEO-wise it shouldn't work any worse than any other TLD. Google says that .eu is not used in geotargeting.

It's really hard to say wether your potential visitors like the extension. Europeans should know what "EU" means, but it doesn't seem to be that widely used, and there's anti-EU sentiment across the continent.

    Is the .com already taken?
Having an EU extension is not going to affect your website in any way, the .com is more popular and probably more easy to remember for most of your visitors, but .eu is ok too.

That doesn't really prove anything. It's a vague anecdote - and I'm being really generous here.

.eu should rank just the same as anything else provided that content and backlinks are there. Maybe it's just because something like your geographical location, or the TLD being new and relatively rare.

I think an EU domain is good for its country specific. It’s no question however that .com along with .org and .net, are very popular and have claim respect and trust from most users. So, SEO wise, I would prefer getting these types of extensions.

No, it's not for Google. See the link above. Also, European Union is not a country.

Purely from SEO perspective it doesn't really matter. From marketing perspective the other TLDs may work much better.

I would suggest to use a .com domain rather using .eu domain. The success rate will be very less if you use a .eu domain.
