In doing some research into Google PPC I have seen competitors using h.ttp://google. for
their domains-like h.ttp://google.myproduct.com

These domains when clicked on actually map to a regular h.ttp://www. so when h.ttp://google.myproducts.com is clicked one ends up on h.ttp://www.myproduct.com.

Can someone clarify for me?

      Hi Zirk,

They are likely doing that for the purpose of tracking. There is probably some script on their site that logs advertising data before redirecting to the final landing page.

I may have some impact on CTR, I haven't tested that, but it seems likely.

I totally agree. I would be willing to bet that this is purely for tracking. I would think there would be easier ways to go about it, but this is their choice.

Why bother going the hard way. There are plenty of tracking software scripts out there.
