    Link outreach, and perhaps forming some kind of relationships depending on the crowd and audience. There's usually no direct SEO benefit, but that too would depend on the platform.

    When you say micro blogging I'm guessing that you are saying that you want small websites pointing back to the site that you want to rank?

    If so then the the term used the in the world of grey hat SEO is satellite site. These are sites which are usually a part of a PBN that have a good PR, Trust Flow and Link Citation that are usually used to point back to the site that you are trying to rank.

    And this aspect they are of high value. You can use 2.0 sites to do that but most of the time they do not pass on any link juice. But if you have a micro site or satellite site that points back to the site that you want to rank and it passes on link juice it will be of great value to you from an SEO point of view.

    It depends on the platform you use. I'd say the only real benefits are the links, and depending on the platform you use, you can either get traffic, but no link juice, or you get both.
