Average time a user spends on any given website?

Looking at my Google Analytics for several websites I just created and I see times like 6+ minutes unique users are hanging out on the site, and I also see 56 seconds on site.

What's the average time a user spends on a site when factoring in all the niches, etc etc.

Or, perhaps there's not an average time because there are too many factors to calculate.

    I would say there are way too many factors the determine an "average." For some sites users likely spend much longer than others. I would also say Bounce Rate is just as important (if not, more important) than the length of time.. If you're average more than a few minutes then I would say it's good!

    I think, the more interesting your website is, the more time the visitors will spend on it. I don't believe there is an average, it depends on each and every single website.

    You can't really calculate it accurately. Even if you could, what's the point? You could have a weather report website where most of the users wont's spent more than 5 minutes top on, and you can have a website with long descriptive articles or short novels where visitors will most certainly spend more time on. It really depends on what kind of services your website is providing.

    You can manipulate this AVERIGE time spent as you can stay on your website and don't close it.. This way, this also calculates in the AVG time spent!
