For getting huge traffic on your youtube video most important things is title or keywords and need to build links.

Most important things is attractive video so that visitors view it more and more & finally youtube marks it as most viewed.

If you want high traffic, target niches that naturally get tons of traffic on Youtube

Nursery rhymes, funny cat, dog, or baby videos

Vine compilations, etc

That stuff gets traffic just from uploading it with the right titles

Most of you will say, how do you monetize that kind of traffic, there aren't any affiliate offers....

How does McDonalds monetize traffic from a tv show about Batman?

it was a free method to get traffic from ... until you see a bunch of software to do either:
-make compelling videos
-optimize on n off page ranking factors (backlinks and views, etc)
-and lastly to check on competitors campaign n how you can outrank them...

My point is, if you have some fund to invest , better go buy those tool (3 is complete), and save your time with those software..

at least you can try those before making some commitment to using is on daily basis.

I personally bought those software and it seems some of them are working, but not all ..

YouTube is one of effective source where you can drive more traffic. If you promote your video on social media sites such as Facebook, Google plus, Twitter then it will get more views for videos. Another way to submit a profile page to LinkedIn page. It will help to increase branding.

  Also, once you've created your content, optimized the title and the description, do not forget to pick a good thumbnail.
  
  If possible do not settle on one of the three that YouTube offered you when it finished rendering the video. Instead, create your own thumbnail, either from taking a still from the video itself, or choosing a related image.
  
  You can enhance this further by adding text to your thumbnail (via Photoshop, Canva, PicMonkey, or other) to really grab the users attention when they see your video listed in the related videos column.
  
  I created an industrial video with so-so (yawn) content. But the thumbnail image was really compelling, and I am confident that this is what helped push it into the million-views+ category.

YouTube video already have high authority. To get more traffic on your YouTube videos, consider writing a good video description, optimizing on the video keywords, making your video viral by getting more views from online communities (LinkedIn, FB, Twitter, etc), and encouraging users to subscribe and link to your video.

This is true if you have a facebook fan page with a lot of Fans
If you don't have you can test facebook ads campaign to go viral but it is realy expensive and it is not profitable for every post. You have to monitor the share numbers.

Yes, but that's only a part of the algorithm. Obviously you need to describe the video, that should go without saying. YouTube has got "engagement" in the core of the algorithm. The more views, interactions (comments, thumbs up/down), and viewing time per user your video gets the more likely it is to rank high.
