Wordpress Theme and Seo results

Hi

I hope its the right forum, but im wasting some time on this and cant come to solution. I know its a dumb question.
Im looking for a wordpress theme, welld one for Seo cause I dont have much knowledge for making one.

If I check on internet everyone claims to produce the best seo wordpress theme and so on.

So how u decide ? Dont have money to try them all and I think its important step.

Instead of getting comments like " template xxxx : this is the best ..." and so on.

How about you just point at good seo results that you did with a theme ?

When it comes to themes you probably want to make sure they are responsive (mobile friendly) and ideally use good coding (like CSS)..This is about the only thing in themes that will play into SEO. The rest is going to come from content, backlinks, hosting (loading times play a role), permalink structure, and SEO plugins such as SEO Ultimate.

using gtmetrix and knowing its 90%+ result, it means its okay or I've to check something else also ?

Well, usually SEO is a bullet point in the feature list, and most generic themes do equally good job at implementing the basics. It's just a few lines of HTML code. Any proficient theme coder can do it.

I haven't really been paying attention to these so-called SEO themes except for reading SEO-Dave's stuff on this forum. It's simply not on the top of my list of things to consider. When it comes to more advanced stuff like link structures and keyword research the themes are not equal, but even then it's not such a major thing from my point of view.

What do your prospective SEO themes promise beyond the obvious basics?

  That's not true. WordPress (dot org) allows as many changes to shoot yourself in the foot as any other CMS. The themes are sort of mini applications, which means that badly coded theme can make your whole site practically invisible to Google.

  As for the question, I would not worry about my theme of choice since there are many plugins out there that can turn any WordPress theme to be SEO optimized. With plugins, you can change your theme but the SEO settings remain the same on plugins.

Research how to silo a website.

Forget useless bloated themes (ex: most Themeforest themes) & keep the pages simple for both SEO & traffic conversions.

  If so, then pay most attention to post 8
  
  Then worry less about the theme and more about relevant content and good backlinks which will help your SEO more than any theme ever will.

wordpress allow you to make on-page optimization and it let you to kill it if you want too.
seo theme should be:
responsive
lightweight
on the main page: h1="website title", only one H1 tag
on post page (single.php): h1=post title, only one H1 tag,
few, solid css
minimum php code possible

The cheap $38 ones on Themeforest are good for a start. You won't have excessive coding and features all over the place where every little change on the site is coded into a on/off switch through the admin.

The $38 ones are lighter and have less features. You can optimize the header tags from there and use an SEO plugin like Yoast to help you.

That's not really true either. WP core does about everything it can, which is search engine friendly slugs and redirects when you change the slugs. Using WordPress "out of the box" in my mind would mean one of the default themes, and AFAIK they're not terrible for SEO.

The service only checks for certain things (that they pretty clearly specify), and the code it's based on is heavily biased towards WordPress Theme Review rules.

Does it matter for your particular scenario? Sure doesn't matter to me.

One of the themes I use got zero as their result, and some of the critical errors they list are completely absurd. You can't read stuff like this for only the score, but you need to see what the results actually say, and you need to understand the complaints in the context. For example, it's unlikely that "malware" actually means malware.

Nobody here is really giving any answers. Let me change that.

First, Wordpress as a platform is not necessarily better at SEO than anything else, other than the fact that it has a blogging platform built in, which can be important. As with any site, Wordpress SEO will require some customization.

Second: Building your SEO settings into a theme is not necessarily the best idea since if you ever change the theme, you lose your SEO settings. That said, if I were to recommend one theme for SEO, it is on the Genesis platform by StudioPress. It's lightweight, well coded, fast, and it comes with built in SEO features.

BUT

Don't use their SEO settings. Set up their theme, or another WordPress theme, any theme, and use the free Yoast SEO plugin instead. This will allow much better SEO customization than any theme and it will allow you to take your settings to another theme if you switch.

The Yoast website has tons of tutorials for using their plugin.
