why on Earth google doesn't show me?

Hi! I'm having issues with the way Google is ranking my site...

It has almost dissapeared from the search results... and it's ranking in second page for its own exact title.

This would be alright if it was a big, competitive niche... but I happen to be convinced that I do a much better job providing my visitors with the info and feedback they were searching for, than all the other worthless reviews with no real bonuses that currently show up first, for my keywords...

Anyway, I opened a thread in google webmaster help forums, but I don't seem to get much attention there. Here I write the full details of my problem https://productforums.google.com/for...rum/webmasters

So, can any of you guys please give me a hand?

Thanks

There is nothing you can do about it. Google will rank any websites that they want and they will not let anyone anywhere know how they rank our websites.

Instead of fretting about it, move on. There is nothing you can do.

Right, that's what you are supposed to think. But in Bing I am pretty much first, I was so in google the first few days and suddenly rankings drop to 100+, other pages in first page are even worse, or their review is newer than mine... or clearly employ black hat techniques...

and in the end of the day, my review is simply more valuable to the searcher, which is what google is supposed to rank nowadays... a real person doesn't care how old a domain is...

There's something else I'm missing... c'mon, second page for the very exact title?

First, Google isn't Bing. Bing is where Google was in 2001.

You have a new site, zero backlinks, no reason your page should rank. You're even competing against the vendors sales page in Google SERPs which is a terrible plan because the vendor most likely has more people building backlinks than you'll ever have.

Welcome to SEO: google search honeymoon seo

BTW, stop posting your URL on Google forums unless you enjoy drawing attention to your domain & game plan.

Funny how a 2001 search engine ranks well my site, where I have put together all the information I could find about a given product, give them a REAL bonus, and made it easy for people to give and receive feedback from others who've tried it, by adding the FB comments plugin on-site, and building related social networks... and Google ranks THIS crap... (unreadable reviews that offer no original and unique information, no real bonuses, are filled with fake discounts... oh well the list is so long).

Those guys have zero genuine, natural backlinks either...

Thank you for letting me know about the google's honeymoon period, I didn't know about it. I guess that's it, so I will try to use platforms that already have site authority and age, to rank my content... (google sites, maybe? or fb page... or rebelmouse...).

btw, may I know why do you say that about not showing my site in google forums unless I enjoy drawing attention to my game plan?? I would have liked not to link my profiles with the site... but I just need the help cuz I've been working hard but I ain't getting commisions cuz some very little sophisticated dummies are outranking me...

damn what a long post... one last thing lol: I'm actually not competing against the vendor's website, they aren't even trying it seems.. so that's not that.

edit, current pic of my search analytics in google webmaster console, hope this is normal...:

It doesn't do much good ranking #1 on Bing when you said it yourself, you're not making any sales. Bing usually doesn't compare when it comes to traffic volume.

I see you're targeting google.es SERPs which is different than Google US SERPs as far as competition. The vendor ranks #3 in the US, Youtube video at #1 & an affiliate at #2.

Google has employees modding Google forums. I have no doubts those mods have connections to people that can make things happen in the SERPs.

No offense but your sales page looks like spam & mainly because the niche itself is spammy. Might as well be selling Viagra. You saying your sales page is better doesn't mean anything, it's only your opinion which is obviously going to favor your own site. Your competition is most likely saying the same type of things about your site, their site is better.

I'll let you in on a little secret, spammy type niches are usually the most competitive niches on the net (sex related, pharma, locksmith, etc...). In other words, picking a niche that's very competitive while learning SEO isn't going to see good results anytime soon.

would you be so kind to list the first few results that show up for you?

I'm too targeting google US, where I do not see the vendors page...

The vendors page is definitely not ranking... at least I don't see it except for here

i'm actually ranking in page 6 now, for google us, which is good compared to a few days ago when I couldn't even see it... but of course right in front of it there is a page with almost no content... lol

Yukon seems to be a bit more paranoid than some of us. However, sometimes that's a good thing when you're trying to build links and compete. I don't think Google gives a toss about small fish such as us, but if some of your competition feels threatened they may do something nasty.

I have to agree that the page looks like spam, which is pretty bad when combined with a product of this sort. At least try to add max width to make it more readable, have some padding around the text, and change the typeface.

I didn't bother to use US based search, but with "product name review" I'm seeing a FB page that's probably "official", a press release site, couple of blogs, couple of YouTube videos, more blogs, and Amazon link.

Google search is in part a popularity contest, which is why you should have more backlinks.

lol I actually have a padding of 5px to the whole thing, and I am using a font face named Arimo, which is actually part of google fonts. About the max width, that's a great point... I think I should make it much more vertical for desktops... about 640px maybe... agree?

So you are posting on an SEO forum to tell us all to forget about SEO. Man, don't stop being so awesome.

Just because you cannot figure out how to rank a webpage does not mean that others are doomed to fail too.

lol I read the first article of your signature, and I agree that edu and gov backlinks should be OBVIOUSLY outdated by now...

yet one of my main competitors has hundreds, if not thousands actually, of backlinks from edu/gov pages... and there he is... in page one... with his worthless review.

would you give me a hand with this? you seem to be experienced with SEO...

Stop complaining about what your competitors are doing and about how their content is inferior.

As others have told you, even if your content was better, it is not just good content that will rank a webpage. You have a small site. Basically, a one-page site, which in my opinion puts you at a great disadvantage. There is no opportunity for quality internal links to strengthen your target page.

Your external link building is weak to say the least.

I just do not see anything that says to me your site deserves to rank well.

I think Im right in saying that your site is only 2 or 3 weeks old. If thats true then most sites of that age will jump around all over the place. Dont be suprised if it jumps back up again. Its called the google dance. Google it.

A low rating is the expected position of a new website, which is only one page, with no backlinks in a competitive niche.

You keep mentioning quality, but unfortunately quality can not be accurately measured by Google.

If you really want to continue with this website and get it ranked, I would suggest adding thousands of pages of original interesting, and relevant content to it, perhaps a Blog. Amazingly enough you have to work really hard to get rich and one page just won't do it.

Indeed. Some of the competition seem to have existing blogs, so it's the other way around. First the site, maybe monetization at some point.

Sleaziest product I've seen for a while. I was a bit amazed that people actually used their sites to promote something this nasty.

guys I got a manual action against my site, in the end... in my google webmaster console. it's a "thin content with little or no added value" penalty.

an error, but an understandable one... given that my site does look like it's thin as hell, even though all the content has been written by me, with all my efforts after researching the product...

the site is new, I don't use a wordpress template, and I put all the info in just the index page, so... looks thin.

anyway, just leaving this out there if it helps anyone...

it took about 10 days since the day my rankings suddenly fell, till I got the manual action thing in the webmaster console.

so I will be adding some depth to it... like my own video version of the review, or comparaison to other products... entertainment, tools, surveys... whatever... fattening your contact, disclaimer etc page too...

YOU ARE IN A SPAMMY NICHE!

You can't undue a spammy churn & burn niche, it is what it is so stop acting like you're building a long term site because odds are you will always end up with short term ranking on Google SERPs with that niche.
