I don't have any backlinks nor do I know where to begin to get them, so obviously the question is how to get backlinks to my website?? Especially the website that is brand new launched.......

Write a content for your website and post it with content submission sites like blogs, PR and articles etc. You need to find these links on search engines.

Yeah mkgg is right, be relevant and specific don't repeat any website if your link exists there. Make sure your content is helpful for others. And try to add this at end or where you want
"source: www.yourwebsite.com".

My philosophy is as follows: the best way to build authoritative backlinks to your site is to forget about building backlinks to your site. What I mean by this is... focus on creating content that has utility - meaning, your content is useful to visitors that meet your target persona. One great way to do this is to write down a list of questions that customers ask you on a regular basis. Acquiring quality back links is not an easy process, you have to make some effort. Whether you are going to submit a article or write a guest post in a relevant blog, your content should be informative and engaging. No one wants to read a content that is intended for getting back links. Where ever you want to create the back link, don't write the stuff just to fill the space.There should be intense details and it should add value to the website. It can be anything - bookmarking, blog commenting, document sharing, video or press release.

  No. Those backlinks are very likely completely worthless, because they should be nofollow (if the site is following best practices). Several social media sites also have structures and markup that makes them hard to crawl and parse.
