seo for landing pages

If I am promoting a product or offer, I don't want to spend money to use PPC, so how does SEO for a single page landing page sound? Of course I know I have to wait for the page to get crawled and indexed but I would be using my low competition keywords for the page to be found.......is it a good idea to use SEO just to promote a landing page

Also what can I do to have visitors stay on my page to reduce bounce rate; because I have been noticing that the visitors are not staying so that can only mean that they are not targeted.....suggestions?

Yes, SEO is totally dead. Google is no longer showing any webpages on page one.

Are you freaking kidding me???? SEO is dead for those with no brain.... SEO is far from dead. It changed - yes, but it is not dead. If you are lazy, you are dead.

While back all you needed is a good site with some content and xrumer to spam the crap out of it, creating millions of backlinks....

Now it changed, for spam you get penalized. You need to do more work. Write quality content. I am talking about content that makes sense, that talks about subject matter, not some gibberish garbage. You need to be fluent in English in order to write.

I got ahead big time by having good site, engaging content and traffic from social media. My site makes me A LOT of money.

SEO is not dead, you cant freaking spam no more!!!

First of all don't give more attention in SEO. Create quality landing page then promote it on various social media (free and paid). to get quick action i would recommend you to start paid ads. Also quality more contents generate more pageviews and more pageviews can reduce your website bounce rate.
i will glad if you share your blog.
    Thanks

Haha someone didnt pick up the sarcasm.

But on a serious note, get that landing page up to 1,000+ words. It can be done but it will be a challenge if you don't setup some supporting content. Try do at least 5-10 500+ word pieces of content targeting long tail terms to support the landing page.

Target terms like 'product discount' 'product review' 'product bonus' to get you going.

SEO might not be dead, but Google is no longer reliable with what they offer within search. They killed it with the continuous quirky named updates that just kept on crippling what everyone was doing. Clearly they aimed to improve the revenue of their paid products.

But If you want good traffic and be discovered then paid marketing of social media should deliver you results.

SEO would be a good strategy for increasing the awareness of your business whether you launching your products or you are starting with your landing page only. It would be worth for you as people will know you only when you have the right technique to attract your visitors towards your business or your website.

For targeting your audiences you need to use quality content so that they can stay on your page for long time for getting some info from it regarding your business.

It is possible, we have a client in the photography industry who only has a single landing page who has been ranking on page 1 for over 7-8 straight months now.

But I wouldn't recommend having just a 1 page landing site for SEO, it's (generally speaking) better to have at least a 'normal' site with home, about, contact e.t.c.

As for bounce rate, yes you're right, it's most likely the traffic source is not targeted enough (though you need to keep in mind that a % of people will definitely bounce off your page no matter what you do).

Otherwise, just make sure that your website title / ad e.t.c. is very descriptive and your page content also eventually shows them exactly what your website title / ad promises them.

Before implementing seo for your landing page you must make your landing page more attractive so that traffic not only comes to your website but also stays on your page or website for a while that only generate genuine traffic towards your website, then do seo for your landing page if bounce rate is more then its worthless to do seo .
