What is the default value of a link for "rel" attribute?

I have seen at many places in links which are not defined as no-follow in rel attribute. So are they do follow links?

I also saw the rel='author' or somethings else in single inverted comma. Are they also the do follow links?

    If a link doesn't have "nofollow" in it, it is "dofollow" by default.
