    Hi Andrew,

Well for SEO, I would say you better make your content better and shareable. Let's start from the beginning, the intention of doing SEO is to build an audience and generate Leads right? Well the best way to do that is to write short eBooks, Blog posts. Once a user shares your content then there starts your nurturing.

The way I do my SEO and all is through content. I use my Blog and ask users for subscriptions. Once they subscribe build my data base and then I start nurturing them with regular Newsletters and Email Marketing. Then I share an eBook asking for their information to download that eBook and after so much nurturing we get that too. Now I start sharing my Sales Emails with the client as well. And we get a very good response against it as well.

You need to leverage your Blog and use it very effectively. Apart from that if you want to Guest Post, write on high DA websites which are far far better than yours and should be from the same niche. Use Press Releases to announce any milestone of your company.

Use Web 2.0 where you can use platforms like wordpress, tumblr to linkback to your main pages on your website.

The key to everything is your content Better the Content, more chances of progress you'll get.

    Thank & Best Regards.

I appreciate that a high quality blog can be a permanent visitor source for your site.

Don't blindly believe that a blog is necessary or content marketing is necessary for every single business. It.. just doesn't make sense for certain businesses. For instance, if you're an accounting company, other than the regulatory stuff, why would your potential customers want to know so much? I mean there is only so much content they want to know, the rest, that's what they're paying you to help them out with.

If you're asking about link building, there are 3 things you need to focus on:
    1) Relevance - no matter where you're getting links from, the place you get from should be highly relevant to your website
    2) Authority - is the website you're building links from considered an authority? Or is it some blog or website that was started yesterday and nobody knows about it?
    3) Diversity - get your links from a diverse range of websites.

Since he has mentioned the word "diversity", it would be also good if you apply diversity in the kind of anchor text you're using in your backlinks. Don't repeatedly use same keywords as anchor text, because doing so will harm your SEO.

What you have used as anchor text in one web site, refrain from using it again in another web site where you also build backlinks. Have variations in anchor texts.

    6.
Local business directories like yelp, yellowpages
    7.

It really depends on the type of business you are link building for.

In general, if you your business isn't very strong, you are stuck using "grey hat" techniques like the ones mentioned already... in this case the best thing you can do is find a good private blog network. There are a ton of SEOs on UpWork and Elance that run high-PR PBN's and create decent content for them each month. If you want the easy way, try that.

For clients that have real businesses, it is a little easier. My first strategy is running a link audit of all competitors, and getting as many links as I can from them first. There is no set way to get the links that competitors have, but if you are professional and clever, you should be able to do that. After that, it is local and industry specific directories. Sponsorship works well. For example, if you are a webdesigner, you could sponsor your local WordCamp event and get a link back.

I have more ideas, but that should get you started...

The main purpose of SEO is creating good content on a website in the form of pages and posts that people want to read which satisfies their queries and can be found by search engine. In that order. Content First!

Here are some tips for you bro:

    1. Create backlinks to pages that ask the visitor to do something. Treat highly-linked pages as landing pages.

    2. Embed offers IN THE CONTENT. Blog posts should have offers in the text. Infographics should include an offer at the end (or middle).

    3. When you invite someone to link to your story, give them a trackable link. This can be as easy as using a URL shortener like Bitly or Captix. You can also tag your URLs for tracking in Google Analytics.

It has been said a million times before and it will be said a million times after this one. So many of the things people are talking about on this thread are not SEO strategies but traffic generation strategies.

The moment you understand the difference you are half way through understanding how to do better at both.

Even more confusing, some strategies "used" to be good for seo bit now are good for traffic generation oreven nothing at all

Get reading people. 2015 has brought some interesting changes to the SEO scene. The faster you get a clue the faster you'll take advantage of it all.

Hint 1: Charity begins at home.

Hint 2: Hummingbird wants you to do something with your website.Actually, three specific things.

Here's one I prepared earlier, particularly relevant on this thread.

"So not a single person on this thread so far knows what outreach is?

Most of the things you guys have mentioned have been ineffective forms of link building for years.

Social as the future of SEO, bullshit, the future to anybody with eyes and a brain is paid platforms, Facebook and google are both moving their services more and more towards paid discovery, however you can't concentrate on the future NOW.

To build backlinks now (taking away the PBN option):
    1) Do some research into your target market, who are they? What sites are they visiting now?
    2) Create something of value to them that doesn't already exist on the sites they visit, this is your asset
    3) Approach the sites they visit via email, phone or even snail mail if you have to
    4) Tell them about your asset and that it might interest their viewers
    5) Ask them to link to it

Then repeat the process for other areas that might be of interest to your target market, are there any transferable traffic options? For example a guy who is interested in books, will also be interested in ebooks, ebook readers, pdf's and other forms of material that he can read if it is sold to him in the right way by someone he trusts.

This is how you link build, this is how link building has worked since 1998 and it's still the same, things just get added and taken away here and there.

FYI read my blog post below, it tells you how to do this in a less targeted but still "safe" way.

But keep in mind that what I have said above is a form of link building that will always be effective until link building as an activity becomes ineffective.

Do it for the benefit of the person who will click your link and you won't go wrong.

Back up this with a few PBN links and you'll pretty much rank anything with the exception of gambling, porn and personal loans sites. If you wanna rank for them then you better start to learn how to write Linux linking scripts and other super shady activities."

Nothing will boost your DA or TF like home page links from powerful domains. You can get those by guest posting (rarely homepage) or PBNs.

All of the other sources like bookmarks or forums I would use cautiously. If you post too many low quality links, they will dilute/pull your trust down.

Social links work great as positive signals for Google, not so much for ranking unless you are in a really low competition niche.

We've worked with a number of businesses in a number of different industries and each SEO strategy is different. They all start with on page analysis. I think every SEO MUST DO THIS.

    On Page
I think every good SEO strategy starts with an on page SEO audit. That means going through each page of a website and looking at the Title Tags, Meta Descriptions, Schema Markup, H1-H6 tags, content issues, linking issues etc.. (there's much more)

    Outreach
Blogging is a must and gaining shares/linking through social media is good, but it's not a significant ranking factor (although it is also a must). Reaching out to influencers and getting them to naturally talk about a brand provides the necessary link (to the correct landing page) along with a natural anchor text. Your client is an authority! Someone who loves hiking would feel flattered that a brand like Nature Valley or North Face or a smaller mom and pop hiking store would chose them. This process can be difficult (since you ARE trying to get them to do this for free. Offering money is NOT the way to go. Offering a shout out on your social media or sample is) and takes quite a bit of time to reach out to these influencers but it makes for an extremely natural backlink profile.

In outreach, it's important to diversify your anchor text, staying away from "exact match" anchors. Additionally, be aware of your C-Block. The links pointing to your site should be come from different sources, not just blogspot and/or wordpress. This also adds to the "natural backlink" profile.

If you are looking to raise your PA and/or DA authority, I would build links to your homepage and target higher quality sites such as EDU's. There are a number of EDU strategies that, like outreach, are natural.

Link building strategies differ by the type of website and customers you are dealing.

Suppose you are dealing with B2B websites then your link building plan would be different
And if you have a B2C website then your link building strategy should be different.

Here are the methods I use:

    Broken Link building
    QA websites
    Social Bookmarking
    Content sharing and posting
    Guest blogging

Blog commenting and forums signature are misused by number of SEOs and they don't know Google is not going to like these things in future.

You should be original otherwise link you are getting is waste. Try using web2.0 and forum profiles sites and I would add social bookmarking as an option.

I do a mixture of strategies with social media being the most important. I like social media because it can drive traffic by itself. From there, I add some anchor-text specific relevant link research.

The best possible backlinks you may get are PBN , but not those from the market but from your own PBN (private blog network)

But if you can`t afford to build your own PBN you may rank some niche and mid competetive keyphrases by using Web 2.0 empowered by 2nd (also contextual) and 3rd tier

Write interesting blog posts that create value. I know it is hard but you must find something of value to promote or else the site is just one of millions or billions.

    1. Publish high quality interesting content and promote to the right audience.

    2. Guest blogging (high quality relevant articles on high quality relevant websites only).

    3. Be Balanced: don't use exact match anchors - I go for brand name while the content around the link gives relevance, don't just go for dofollow links - nofollow links still indicate activity and create a less artificial backlink profile, build links evenly over time.

    Hey there,

If you're trying to build links personally (and this may just be me), but I think adding "share" buttons for people's social media accounts can be a great way to boost some back links.. Provided you have quality content and you have an active following.

If not, the second way to go would be to write an article about another profession and link it back to your niche.

Let's say if you sell fitness programs, you can write an article about weddings and brides and say talk about dresses and link it back to your fitness program by saying "here's how to look even better in that dress"

Then submit that article to wedding bloggers and since they are not direct competition they (once again, provided it's good content) will feature you in a post!

The bigger the blogger the more high quality the back link!

    Hope this helps

    Adam
