I have just done a search on Bing for my website for any of the keywords its ranked for in Google and it does not even come up in the top 100 searches. Now usually I would be fine on how to optimise my site for the search engines however Bing seems to use a different algorithm compared to Google so I am looking for techniques to make my website appear in Bing?

Any clues?

Thanks

Bing is well behind when it comes to analysing natural links and natural citations, so they rely a lot more on onsite factors such as keyword density and the freshness of content.

But whats more interesting is things could be changing as Bing are now getting hold of Yahoos technology algo, so they will be able to come a lot closer to Google.

I have some luck with Bing. I feel the most important aspect that Bing looks at when comes to organic ranking is onsite optimization.

Some onsite optimization techniques that can help you get better rankings on Bing are:

    1) Name your HTML or PHP files with keywords.
    2) Place most important keywords at the front of your Title tag. And repeat the phrase at the back of it.
    3) Place important keywords in Meta Description and Meta Keywords.
    4) Place keywords in H1.

  • I set up a new site recently and it seems to be doing a lot better on Bing than Google.

Bing is only 2 months old and only time will tell how things will progress.

the deal Microsoft and Yahoo signed yesterday will make a difference to Bings success in the search business.Yahoo is a company that has been on free fall for a long time and i am not sure if this will help Bings ambitions.

Bing loves onsite seo stuff and cares a lot less about backlinks than Google. Make sure you keywords are included in your domain name or at least the a subdomain since Bing seems to absolutely love this at the moment.

Obviously that's on top of the standard places like title, several times in the body, anchor text etc.
