Dudettes and Dudes!

This is simple. I wanna play around with some SEO tools. Tell me, what SEO tools have you used this year, how much they've cost you, what EXACTLY you use them for, and if/how much they've helped you rank for terms.

Simple, right?

Ohhh, and if you use the tools for yourself or a client or an "expert" on it, please PM me

Edit: So I should've been specific: mainly for link building but let's throw in competition analysis

Hey man. I'm planning to use the SPYFU tool - it's mainly for competitor analysis.

I haven't used it yet, but here's an article from SEOChat that talks about the tools' nooks and crannies: How To Use the New @SPYFU for Smart Competitor Analysis

For keywords wise, Google keyword tool and some Google SERP checking is more than sufficient.

We only write manual blog posts and build manual white hat links, we don't really use 'tools' per se as we believe is described by the other comments above.

Can we be More specific than giving a list of SEO websites please?
Rate them on a scale of 1 - 10 and say WHY you'd recommend them? Have the SEO recommendations have taken your site from 670,000 to page one on Google?
      Now THAT's a good recommendation!

I just spent a few hours doing a search of the same topic. Here are the results from a variety of webpages. Post is a bit long, so I hope you like to read (instead of TL;DR). To avoid reading this long post, just go to cloudswave.com because they have the most in depth information on the topic as well as the largest variety of tools. After page 2, I got tired and needed a break, so if you wanted to mine the tiny crumbs left over, be my guest. The largest/most successful softwares seem to be (SEO)moz and Raven; I say that from an internet researcher perspective, not from having used them. Top tens are not always right; sometimes there is something you need specifically that one product will do in a far superior fashion and it will be listed last, but alternatively it gives you a feel for the field as a whole. To everyone: feel free to copy the below information that took me ~3 hrs to make and format if you find it helpful in your presentation(s).

  • The favorite tools that I use:

    1. Scrape Box (no Seo should be without it- not just a spamming tool)

    2. Traffic Travis (surprised?)- updates constantly, simple interface, robust functions. Amazing Data gathering. One of the most underrated Seo tools in my opinion. One of the first tools I got as a newb and I constantly come back to it.

    3. Seo Power Suite (beautiful interface, great support, I've used it for years and probably always will especially seospyglass and link assistant. Traffic Travis is not as "pretty" but probably a better option for 95% of online marketers who aren't part of a firm.*

*If I had to choose between SEO Power Suite and Traffic Travis, Traffic Travis would win it. My opinion.

    4. Keyword Organizer (sleeper!) Basically a database for your keywords. Doesnt sound sexy but a dangerous tools in the hands of someone who know what they are doing.

    5. Of course - Google Webmaster Tools, Google Keyword Planner, And Ahrefs.

    You only need 3...

    1) Moz pro - For link target analysis and the other ridiculously useful shit they do
    2) Buzzstream - The best CRM for keeping track of link targets and relationships
    3) Link Prospector - Cheap and extremely effective tool for prospecting for link targets, if you can use Google's advanced operators, this thing is INCREDIBLE.

If you use these 3 tools effectively and you can sell moderately well, then you can make 6 figures per year fairly easily.
