Link Juice from Blog Posts

Hi

I have read somewhere (from someone selling back links!), that the link juice from a back link in a blog post comes from the page rank of the root domain rather than the page rank of the blog page.

Is this true?

Thanks in advance!

    Wrong.
The homepage gets most of the links, so most of the link juice. If it links to the page you get your link from, you get a bit more juice than if the homepage didn't link to that page.

However, there's a huge difference between getting a link from a homepage with a PR of 4, for example, and from an inner page of a site whose homepage has a PR of 4, unless that page doesn't have a PR of 4 of its own.

Yes, Google doesn't tell you the PR of pages anymore, but they still have PR.

So if the home page has a PR of 5 but the blog post has a PR of 0, the back link has very little value?

That sounds like some shithead trying to rip people off. Well, unless they really are that clueless.

Keep in mind that PR has not been publicly updated in almost 2 years now. A PR 0 page might actually be higher than that. Of course, the PR 5 home page might also be a PR 0 in reality.

WRONG! link juice comes from the actual page rank. Not the root domain!

That's just nasty. Usually these swindlers aren't outright lying to you unlike the one you're referring to.

They're referring to their links as "PR X links" when they actually ought to say "links from a site with front page at PR X". But this is such a common shorthand that it's hard to see it as a lie even though it's not true.

Very tricky question . If a blog connected through subdirectory, then you will get the link juice of root domain. For example you are getting a back-link from www.abc.com/blog. Then you will get the link juice of root domain as blog is connected in subdirectory.
Second if a blog is connected as sub-domain, then you will get the link juice according to page rank of the blog page. For example you are getting a back-link from www.blog.abc.com then you will get the link juice according to page rank of the blog page as google will treat it as different website .
    hop it will help you

      Hi Gaurav,

Isn't this contradicting what everyone else is saying?

They seem to be saying that "http://www.xyz.com/blog" has a different page address and therefore a different page rank and link juice than "http://www.xyz.com"

      Thanks!

Yes, and that user is just plain wrong. I'm not even completely sure what he/she is trying to say there.

Every page has it's own pagerank. Typically the pages that are linked from main navi have PR that's a bit lower than the PR of the front page, but that would depend on the site structure and the direct backlinks that those pages have. It's not far fetched that a blog page could be stronger than a front page.

        Hi,

Actually I misunderstood the question . Reverting back to your query I would like to say that the back-link will receive the link juice from the blog post not from its root domain .
