Hi everyone,

Starting a blog has always been on my mind, so over the past 6 months on the side I have been getting ready to launch. It's going to be a financial blog, talking about dividend stocks, income, etc... Something I enjoy discussing. I am placing a few adsense advertisements on the pages and post, something I hope will generate a little side money.

I DO NOT anticipate this site to replace my income, nor do I want to... However, side money would be nice! This is all new to me so any startup tips would be great.

For example, how many keywords should I place in my post tags? Is there a restriction? I want to do everything by the book.... I read about utilizing lower end keywords.... I had a site similiar to the one I am building a few years ago... Made $.55 to $1.05 per click.... I would love to get, down the road of course, anywhere from 400-800 visitors a day... What would be a great road map?

Thanks all

There's no book. You should experiment, and do whatever works for you.

However, you should not put post keywords in post tags. That can lead to your site having a lot of useless tag archives that only confuse search engines and users. In my opinion you should only have a handful of categories that match the main keywords of the site.

I think that kind of CPC is very good by today's standards, but it depends on the niche.

Yours is unfortunately very competitive and saturated. That number of visitors isn't of course impossible, but if you get there you're already doing extremely well. I'd suspect that you'd have to build real connections to other site owners, get authoritative links, and do outreach and marketing outside search engines as well. And it's impossible to say if that'd ever work.

Build your blog by targeting many long tail keywords, so that it ranks easier. You will need to focus in writing good content and share the content of your blog using social media.

That's a good example of a shameless link bait. There's no way anyone would know Google's ranking factors, and even that number is an example that comes from a public presentation years ago. So even the title is has a couple of itty bitty lies in it.

However, Backlinko isn't the worst source for link building ideas. Check their relevant articles.

Have you ever heard of SEO Articles? I know you write a blog and not an article, but there are some tips for writing SEO that might help you too. Such as: avoiding keyword stuffing, including Meta title and Meta description can help for the advertisement of the page.
