Is it a good strategy to back link articles through web directory submissions?
What I mean is…

Is it an effective strategy to back link articles placed on for example; Goarticles.com, with back links from web directories?

Will back linking my articles by submitting the article url to web directories, help my articles rise high in the search engines?

Or is it better to back link my articles by social bookmarking them?

What type of back linking to articles, has worked best for you?
Is it back links from:
- social bookmarking sites
- web directories
- forum comments
- articles placed in article directories
- rss fields
- anchor text in the profile section of high PR sites (like Angela’s backlinks)
- press releases
- video submissions

Should I back link my articles by submitting the article URL’s to web directories?

Your opinion on this matter is highly valued and would help many people on this forum understand “back links” better.
Thanks.

    Backlinking articles is very simple...why?

Because any kind of articles will work for them and it doesn't matter how fast you build the links. The directories like EZA, goarticles, and the rest of them already have trust from Google so, you can "bomb away" with any and all links you can get your hands on.

I like to get a big bookmarking done - 500+ sites, and a ton of blog commenting or forum posting, throw in a mass article blast through isnare or a similar service and you should be good to go.

Well this goes without saying. All of those techniques he listed provide "do-follow" back links. His question is which ones are the most effective.

As for me, I get better rankings by writing good quality articles that people republish on their blogs and that gives me a boost in rankings over time.

    Hi!
This is really good strategy to back link articles through web directory. It will help your article to get page rank in goggle.
Article directories like ezinearticles.com have already very high page rant of in main page. But your personal page with your article is without any page rank.
So, if you will build good quantity of backlinks to your article then google will take into consideration not only high page rank of article directory but also page rank of the page you article posted on.
It will help you in competition against other articles with same keywords as yours.
My personal approach is to post articles in many of article directories because most of social bookmarking sites have nofollow attribute set on your link. And there is no sense in such backlink at all.
The best approach is not to have simple backlink like http://www.mysite.com/myarticle article. but with anchored keywords related to your article.
    Hope this help.

    Thanks everyone.

Another question... then which automated software is best to use for backlinking articles on ezinearticles.com or goarticles.com?

In my case the best was - submission of articles to niche blogs (on different IPs, different domain owners from round the globe). You had to take care of each blog individually, but now there are projects where the bloggers are waiting for your content - you just submit, choose the blogs and the rest is automated.

Thanks for the tip... but do you submit the same article to the different blogs or do you rewrite them?

And can you use a software to publish to these blog sites? What software?

Backlinking your articles is a really good idea. Not only can it improve your chances of getting some traffic through the articles i.e. if you can get them to rank for something good but it will also improve the quality of the link that they are passing to you.

I know that Angela Edwards builds backlinks to her articles.. for example if you type backlinks into Google you can see one of her articles ranking number two for backlinks. Personally I doubt she would be able to rank for backlinks using those link building techniques (blog commenting mainly), but since goarticles has a lot of trust from Google she can get the article to rank for a very competitive term by simply doing some additional link building.

As for how to build links to articles, directories is a good idea if you find ones that allow deep links. Social bookmarking is ok but even the links that are dofollow don't really pass much linkjuice. I would mix it up a little and do some social bookmarking, lots of blog commenting, use forums etc.

You can use MS Word 2007. It allows you to post on multiple blogs with a push of a button. select "new blog post", paste your article and then choose the blog on which you want to post from the drop-down menu. If you rewrite the article for each blog then just paste your content before you select the blog to post on.

I use MS Word to publish posts on my AdSense blogs.
