Broken Link Strategy
- SEO |
Now for the newbies out there or even the so called "experts", before leaving a comment on this thread please make sure you understanding what I'm asking.
I'm talking about the following:
I look up a specific keyword in the SERPS: let's say "how to lose weight fast." (generic but whatever).
I find a top site How to Lose Weight Fast: 3 Simple Steps, Based on Science. Why did I pick this? Because the kw is included in the URL. And it's top 3 on the first page based on my IP address. And it's a blog. Yay, an actual competitor.
Anyway, I go to ahrefs or whatever tool you use to find broken links - maybe senuth or whatever; I add that exact URL. From there I look at the broken links. What does that mean? GREAT, an opportunity. I take the list of sites with the broken link and I find their contact info. Great. I send them an e-mail about considering adding my link instead because the one they have currently doesn't work and why they should do it blah blah blah.
Cool. Now you guys get what I'm talking about with broken link strategy. And I've probably revealed an extra SEO strategy. But then again, I want to know if it's still effective......
So.............. back to the question. What's your experience with it? What's the response rate? And what's the success rate of them actually changing the link for you?
THANKS
