Panda 4.2 was slowly in rolling its update and the full refresh will be experienced after several months of progress. So mostly for the webmasters and site owners will not notice the small effect of this update.

I saw reports that said the same thing -- that the impact will be small. 2 - 3%, I think.

      Then I did some math.

Google says there were 180,000,000 active websites in existence in 2014. I'm sure there are more as of this year, but that figure should be adequate for my point, which is that this update will then affect at least 3,600,000 - 5,400,000 websites.

If you want to play with other figures from other sources, the number of affected sites only increases. Some sites, for example, claim there are nearly a billion websites in existence. Total number of Websites - Internet Live Stats If that's the case, then around 20,000,000 - 30,000,000 websites will be affected.

I can't feel immune. Not with numbers like that!

Are you in the business of creating low-quality sites, and trying to rank those? If that's the case you should be worried.

The problem with your "numbers"? You misunderstood what Google actually said. They're talking about the number of queries that's affected. What does that mean exactly? Well, my guess is that "spammy" niches would be hit more heavily than garden-variety searches. It would seem logical that the number of websites affected is much less than 3% of all existing websites - many of which don't even rank by any useful definition of the word.

It's not likely that Panda would affect sites across the board. It's meant to hit the worst ones. There will be some collateral as always, but probably not that much.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

        What's your excuse?

Thankfully, maybe the only industry in the world where people freak out, panic like sissies and make a lot of noise about the imminent risks and dangers, instead of just handling them and dealing with it without so much commenting, is Ass-Ee-Oh...

Imaging ship captains freaking each and every single time out about the relatively trivial fact that the High Seas are oftentimes stormy. It's a given !

    Deal with it !

Google says the update can take months to fully roll out. That means Web pages might not see a change immediately.

The interesting thing about Google updates is that they can go either way.

Before the update rolls out, you can get a huge amount of traffic and then things will bottom out, or you can get a massive traffic depression and then things will even out.

Any kind of fluctuation is expected.

Instead of worrying about Panda, focus primarily on how your layout and site architecture are set up.

Avoid duplicate content and avoid using tricks to maximize speech abuse.

Instead, focus on user experience and present your content in a very logical way.

Avoid the temptation of putting too many ads above the fold.

This actually one of the first filters that was built into Google Panda.

I expect this list of filters to grow with time.

If you did any of this, your website will be hit by Google Panda.
    1. Serve useless content, in other words thin content.
    2. Work as content farms.
    3. Clutter loads of ads on pages.
    4. Remain stuck without updated content for long durations.
    5. Have useless pages indexed in Google.
