It never happened to me but I heard about it. Usually people solved crawling problem with submitting again xml sitemap to the google webmaster tools... please try that!

    I hope it will help

EDIT: I am not sure how crawl error can affect your keywords... maybe your ranking is not up to date, but that'll sort out after you resubmit sitemap

If Google isn't currently crawling your pages their only option is to fall back to old data. Not sure why anyone would want to do work (SEO) only for it to go unnoticed (not crawling pages).

Odds are your host is failing & the site is down while Googlebot is trying to crawl your pages which is ironic considering your business is supposed to be a tech coompany.

404s or crawl errors will generally not harm your website but crawl errors could negatively affect your crawl which in turn can hurt your visibility in the search engine result page. Check your website for 404 with xenu software or any other link checker software and make sure your site pages are not linking to 404 pages internally. Make sure that you are redirecting to the appropriate URL instead of returning a 404 for the web page.

LOL, that's the most concise answer that I have ever seen!
About my opinion, when Googlebot show you the error it found while crawling your website. You need to fix it asap then submit XML sitemap or ping again to say "Hey, I have an update here, come and get me" JK
Please correct me if i'm wrong because i do concern this issue

Well surely it does affect the pages with crawl errors. It simply means that google's spider cannot reach your page
