I think you can tell google not to crawl a specific page using your robot.txt

You would have to look up what the code is, and where it goes, but people have done so for a while

    Yes, using:

    Disallow: /yourwebsite.com/thepageyouwantoexclude

    In your robots.txt file

Inserting the noindex tag onto these pages works too. But it comes with a warning: https://support.google.com/webmaster...er/93710?hl=en (might be a Google-only warning)

It is post to alert google not to index how to post.

If you're using SEO by yoast plugin, when you finish to write your article before you publish scroll down to the end of the post. Click on advanced option and scroll down you will see this word: Meta Robots
Index, there find the word noindex then click.

    • Don't use disallow / noindex as being advocated in this thread. That will make your How-To articles disappear not only from the Google News index, but the broader Google index as well which is not what you want.

I think you overestimate google news and your "news."

        But I digress.

Why would you want google to not index anything?

Anyway, as some people know, google has many bots.

You can block the news bot, which is Googlebot-News

        <meta name="Googlebot-News" content="noindex, nofollow">

Block that one and that one only.

If you block the Googlebot, you will block google entirely,
        news and search.

Now I regularly read google news, and click on human interest,
tips, comedy, etc. There is no reason for you NOT to want things
there, unless you just hate google. Hating google is code for
        shooting yourself in the foot.
