Buying Backlinks Question

I have a question about buying backlinks.

I understand the need for backlinks but how does one go about buying them, finding out if they are good backlinks and why would you buy them in the first place?

I don't understand the reason behind this?

Thanks

PS I know it is a newbie question but just something I don't understand.

I don't think there's a need for buying backlinks at all. But if you were going to, I'd think the criteria would be something like this:

    * Cache Date of the Site
    * PageRank - (a poor metric, but normally important for pricing)
    * Relevance of information
    * Positioning within the niche neighborhood
    * Position on the link on the site (in a paragraph or body of an article is better than footer, etc)
    * Amount of other outgoing links on the same page/site

So what you are doing then is going to a site, researching it, then if you like it, then you call up the webmaster and ask to buy a link?

Or is it that the webmaster of a site is offering a link for sale you and you go a "marketplace" if you will to find links to buy that would match your criteria?

let me know if this is correct or in the ballpark at least. LOL

    Thanks

Don't waste your time Shane. It's all about "relevance!" That's what Google rewards ... not your random backlink. You need RELEVANT backlinks. You have to build them yourself.

Contact site owners in a related niche and ask if they would be willing to exchange links. If they have a blog and no contact details just post a comment with your suggestion and some will get back to you.

Contacting site owners and asking for links may have worked 10 years ago, but you will get a VERY low response rate these days.

One great way to build link is article marketing.

still works for me tho. You can get some gems if you just contact site/blog owners. And it's quick. Article marketing is fantastic and everyone should be doing it indeed.

Incorrect. I have literally dozens of examples in-house that destroy this myth. Backlinks DO NOT have to be "relevant." I have a site consistently on Page 1 at Google for a highly competitive keyword phrase. The phrase gets about 1 million monthly searches, so you know a lot of people are gunning for it. And I did it with links that are probably about 99.9% unrelated to the niche.

The key is getting links from as many authority sites as possible, not relevance.

        Hi John,

I seriously doubt that you get much benefit from irrelevant backlinks. If you don't use RELEVANT anchor text on a page that also has no relevance to your targeted keyword how is this helping your rankings? I bet nearly all of your backlinks that are helping you rank are relevant backlinks.

If that is all it took, then a handful of websites would dominate nearly ever single keyword search. No one would use search engines because they wouldn't be able to find relevant sites. Search engines care more about relevance than any other factor. All SERPs are ranked and sorted by relevance first and only consider authority and link popularity when relevance is equal.

If you study the SERPs you will notice that the most relevant pages (based on a variety of relevance factors) are always listed first and then less relevant pages follow, regardless of their backlinks or authority.

  • Try a press release - they end up all over the place including googles news service. Forum marketing rocks and is my personal favorite. I do link building for a company and I post links all over the place: blogs, wikis and social networking sites. To find places to post links I type a niche market where the internet marketers are highly competitive. "Viagra" for example, or I will type in "buy cialis online profile member" then look for where they have placed links and I do exactly the same thing. You will notice that forum profiles are used alot, probably due to spamming software. Some forums are just filled with spam, and I am not suggesting you start spamming, but you could just add a link in your profile. Because these are not relevant links I do not know how effective they would be, but the company I work for just wants links from different sites, and I was running out of places to put them. By the way dont spam, it sucks!

Angela and Paul are providing very good high PR backlinks packets. Use a good backlinks service provider who uses Angela and Paul's method and you won't need anything else. There are some good backlinks service provider out there who charge about $1 per backlink.

Buying back-links is dirty business in my book. Sure, you can do it, but it's not going to help much, indeed, it will hurt you if Google recognizes you are doing it--and Google's pretty smart about that these days.

The other thing is that Google looks at the words and phrases adjacent to the anchor text of your back-links. If that content doesn't appear to Google to be related to your links or content of your page--those links do little if anything to help you. It may even hurt.

That's why you should build your own. Encapsulate your anchor text with semantically related words. And the theme of the site you are getting back-links from should be similar to yours--Lady Google is a lot smarter than she used to be!

!!! Buying links still works !!!

Like it or not, there is a risk here - Google already mention that clearly you shouldn't buy links or anyway to influence Google search result, and the worst part, Google has dedicated resources to hunt link seller.

If you buy links from digital point forum or other places, make sure they don't publicly list their site! As long as Google don't flag that site selling links, you are O.K.

But the problem is, if the seller got greedy and keep on selling too much links, leave a footprint behind, what do you think Google will do...??

Use web 2.0 and many other resources to acquire link resources are better than buying it, at least you control your own property.

A link is a link, unless Google hunt it down, all kind of links is gold to marketer...

2types of links that is effective:

    1. Relevant
    2. Authority (High PR)

If you can get both, that's the best, however, High PR unrelated links still works great! If the post and link is related to your niche, but with low PR (1-2), still work nice.

I dont really agree with buying backlinks when you can find them everywhere for free, on the other hand I do outsouerce them because it can tedious work. But when I do outsource I give the list of where I want them Page Rank and keywords for anchor and such.

I'd never recommend to purchase backlinks. Why would you want to run the risk of getting in trouble with the search engine companies?

      Hi Shane_K,

Purchasing links are a natural part of the web economy and an excellent way to get targeted traffic to your website. Contrary to the myth being spread by many, there is no penalty for buying links for the purpose of acquiring traffic to your website.

If you carefully select websites that have significant traffic, that will find your link highly relevant, then it can be very lucrative. Don't buy links for PageRank, buy them for targeted traffic.
