To link or not to link, that is the question?

Good day,

I have been building a few new sites and now it's time to start promoting them and getting some backlinking done.

I have a dilemma though. My one site is doing well and it now quite established with a PR 3 so a link from that PR 3 domain will be beneficial to my new sites right?

But the problem is that the niches are not related at all.

So, if I put a link on the established site to the new sites will it be bad for SEO? And will it negatively affect the established site, the new site or both?

Your comments and opinions will be appreciated

I don't think it will affect the new site because I think iv heard that there's no bad links. But it might affect your established site because its not relevant to your site. This is just my opinion.

A link with your keyword phrase as the text to your new site will benefit your new site. However there is some question as to whether a link to an unrelated site from your pr3 site will hurt the pr3 site.

Some say that if the text of the link isn't relevant to your pr3 site then Google will think it's a paid link and penalize your pr3 site. Others (myself included) don't agree.

It would seem as long as you don't have a page loaded with unrelated links that one or two aren't going to be a problem.

          Thank you for that answer.

So now do you think I should only include a few of the new sites links, or can I say: Partner Sites: Site 1, Site 2 etc

If I do link the new sites then it will only be on the home page of the PR 3 site and the number of unrelated links would be about 7 - 14 is that too much?

          What would you do?

Don't backlink if the niches aren't related. Google knows people try these sort of things. It will only harm your site.

I would only interlink sites in certain situations and not do it on every page. You want to avoid throwing up red flags, if you are really worried, just use nofollow.
