The posts above are pretty useless, I hope I can do better.

The easiest way to do SEO well is to focus on onpage SEO. Make sure your content is good, you have all the tags in the right place, page speed should score 80+ on the google insights tool for mobile and desktop.

You have no control over offsite seo, sure you can buy links and build link wheels but you don't know for certain if it will work, nowadays it can just hurt your site.

But you can't really hurt your site with on page seo unless its ranking well already.

It's all about telling Google what the page is about, if you do this you will go a long way.

Yes I agree, I have sites and they are gradually making their way up Googles ranks, if you use SEO and push too hard Google might take down your site, penalizing you. Take a more gradual approach unless you find a good SEO ofcourse that knows what they are doing.

Unique, high quality content written with readers in mind, full of images and videos and relative lengthy.

Titles
Your posts/pages should all have unique titles. These titles should mention your keywords.

Keyword stuffing (Please don't!)
This is a practice of the past. By all means do not try to mention as many times as possible your keywords. If you do this you will definitely wont see the first page of SERPS.

These are just the most basic rules for a on page SEO optimization.

The most important thing of SEO is making sure you appear in the first positions of Google search so that people find you first. I mean ahead of your competitors.
Contrarily, if you are not working on yoru SEO - you might be in a so called second Google's page, so people will probably not even go to the second, when they'll have ten results on the first page.

Targeted keyword within your high quality and fresh content is extremely important as long as you don't over use your keyword on a page. When writing your content for a specific page, just think of the keyword you want to use and just write naturally while making the content fun to read.

Most important on-page factor is unique and valuable content created frequently, inceraction with the audience etc. it`s 99% of success in on page SEO, the rest are very simple tweaks only. Google will appreciate as well as the audience if you do this that way. Focus on the content.

Unique and valuable content has nothing to do with onpage optimization. You should have valuable content, but it's got nothing to do with SEO.

Updating content frequently is a waste of time for most types of sites and not part of onpage optimization.

Interacting with your audience is not part of SEO.

The rest is simple tweaks, if you know what to do.

1. make your content easy for search engines to crawl and to index and understand.
2. make your content easy and interesting for human readers.

Everything is important, you followed all guidelines and created a webpage which is Search engine friendly, what is the benefit if visitors leaves your site very quick because content is not interesting.
