Is it beneficial to have a dedicated IP address for SEO?

When it comes to hosting a site on a shared server, there is always quite a common controversial question: Is it important to have a dedicated IP for your site and why, if you just can use a shared one?

    Not really. Much of the web is on shared IP addresses, and CDNs are a growing trend. Google engineers are not idiots, they must've realized this years ago.

    Having your own IP address might shield you a little if your "neighbors" are getting blacklisted for some kind of spam, but it's not a total cure for that either.
