How to rank a website for 2 different locations?

I have 1 SEO related issue that a client called me about today.
I built this website for him about 6 months ago, he already had pretty good visibility locally - so at the time he wasn't interested in local SEO
He calls today, and says he's opening a 2nd shop about 70 miles north and wants to rank his site in both locations/city.
I've never ranked a website for 2 different locations, just wondering if you know the best way to go about it - both on page, and what he should do for his Google My Business page... So any advice would be really helpful.
