How to check backlinks?

Well its something difficult to analyze your back-links manually as it may requires huge time. Google back links analyzer is a good tool that can help you to analyze your back links.

In order to do that you need to configure your site at Google webmaster search console and after verifying your site ownership you can use the back link analysis tool. It shows all websites that contain link to your site.

There are three ways to check your back links
1. From your Webmaster tools account
2. Online back link checker tools
3. Manually checking

I rely on manually checking back links of my website because it is most reliable for me than using the two upper option for it. Google webmaster some do not show the back links you have had created recently in last couple of days.Secondly online tools available for the purpose are not fully perfect. However some paid tools may be beneficial in this regard.

Its quite difficult to find out backlinks without a tool.

Google webmaster is your saviour and other paid tools like what fellow warriors suggested.

you can also look like this, not much accurate, but it helps little bit - search in google with this string link:[space]www.yourwebsite.com

You can also use google alerts to check who is talking about you or linked your website anywhere.

Although there are tools available online like Moz, Ahrefs etc. best bet is to use a search operator but then you would have to manually check the site metrics. Make sure you use the free tools available and analyze those backlinks properly.

Most of the people didn't read what the OP said: Don't mention tool names.

Presumably, the OP wants a manual way. There isn't a way, unless you have a site that has the domain name as anchor text in all links, and you know that somehow.

Everyone suggested Ahrefs , Me too. But it is too costly and not everyone can buy this.
Besides this SemRush , Moz and majestic are cheap and one can also take contribute in their Group Buy.

Still if you want more cheap , you can get a free trial of SemRush and Moz available on their official site that tools are also not bad if you use their premium and trails make it much more easier

Paid version of Ahref is too costly. Ahref has a limitation of the free versions. So, I suggest you to try with free tools like:
