Yes, it is. You can add a lot of stuff to links, you can add code to track how many people click, etc. Avoid links that have rel="nofollow".

Exactly. Very common for sites to use javascript for hyperlinks and navigation.

But, sorry. They are not backlinks.

That's a perfectly normal hyperlink. The Javascript on the link doesn't (or at least shouldn't) affect the link in any way.

Can't even get the logic behind this idea that there's something wrong. You're saying that Google doesn't count this link as a backlink because this user has decided to a) use their Analytics product and b) ask that product to record a click? That makes absolutely no sense to me.

Thank you for responding everyone. SOOO i guess i shouldn't waste my money ? I was going to pay the webmaster of this blog to have my articles with my keywords in the content. If Google won't be recognizing the backlink, there is no point to this from an SEO standpoint ?

IT'S A NORMAL LINK. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, except the weird mass psychosis that is Warrior Forum.

If you decide to not believe a web developer with more than decade of experience do check the HTML specs for yourself. This is a completely open standard. Whatever you do, do not believe these clueless one-liner morons.

Even if you're not willing to do that spec checking, read the damn link. There's nothing to obscure the <a href=""> part which is the crucial thing. There's no rel="nofollow" which would make it worth zero. The Javascript is merely trying to capture the click with Analytics, which is a very common action.
