When you say PR do you mean page rank?

For me the domain authority and page authority is the most important.

I'd always pick SERP placements over some 3rd party metric. These scores are supposed to help you, they're not a goal.

Publicly visible Pagerank is of course even more meaningless because it's not been updated since late 2013, and probably will never be updated again.

Yes and no. Pagerank scores are obviously something you should not stare any more, but the mechanism is there. You need to worry about the same stuff as before, but use 3rd party metrics to see if you're getting anywhere.

This is an incredibly stupid question.

PR does not bring traffic. It will not make you money. So why would anyone focus on it?

Besides the fact that it is just stupid, PR is no longer being publicly updated by Google and has not been for almost 2 years. So why in the world would anyone focus on PR anyhow?

    Hi,
SERP means Search Engine Ranking Page. This is what you look at multiple times a day. It’s the (first) page of results Google gives you when you are searching for a keyword or a keyword combination.
So for me SERP is more important than PR.

Just so you know, PR does lead to higher SERPS, so you don't have to choose one or the other, they are not really separate things, however, toolbar PR as a metric is dead. Ignore it completely, they don't update the PR bar. Some websites that show PR8 are actually deindexed completely from Google these days, and have a PR less than 0.

Getting good SERPS for high converting keywords is the only sane way to do SEO. You can do that through quality, relevance and promotion.

Page rank - page rank is a numeric value that represents how importan a page is on the web.

SERP - means Search Engine Ranking Page, this is what you look at multiple times a day
we can say it is the position of your website in google's search engine results based on certain keywords combination.

So we can say that page rank is more important than SERP.

It has nothing to do with importance. PR is a measure of the quality of incoming links to a page. That's it.

If by domain authority you mean Moz's metric, then no it does not improve your ranking.

        ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You people do not know what SERP actually stands for, and
man I mean I am laughing so hard at you so-called SEO people
        with the sigs.....holy crapola batman!

PR is important. Very, very, very important. It's one of the metrics
that google actually tells us how they get it, albeit not all details.

Like telling a runner to "train" for a marathon without spelling out
what "train" means. One could get a logical conclusion as to what
is NOT good training for a marathon.

But there are other factors when coming up with SERPs, yes SERPS.
(Hint, it aint search engine ranking page.)

The "R" must stand for results page. Ranking page makes no sense.
I have no clue as to who first came up with "ranking" page, but they
        are fools.

Search engines do not produce ranking pages. They produce result
        pages.

And of course, in the end, SERP is THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS!

        Seriously. The question is lame-o.

Who would want their page to be PR5, but show up on the 10th page
        of results?

I'd rather have a PR1 showing up first.

But then, I am one of the 1%.

To be on top positions in SERPs --> more traffic --> more profit
    Does PR give you that?

PR tells the page rank of any website and by viewing it one can trust on the website easily if it is containing high page rank. Even it tells the authority of the website and the content quality as well.

Whereas SERP tells the keyword position in different search engines. It is beneficial to check out which keyword is ranking on which position of a particular website.
