RSS feeds and SEO question

hi guys, i got a question about RSS feeds and SEO.

Once upon a time before the panda strike we would use the RSS feeds to publish it on RSS aggregator to get backlinks.

does it still work nowadays or i should disable RSS totally?

    You used the RSS feeds to get your content syndicated. The backlinking was a by-product.

    RSS is use to spread your updated content syndication not to getting backlinks.
