Can anyone tell me What is URL mapping?

    What kind of context you're thinking about? This question makes no sense as it is.

    URL mapping is something that web servers such as Apache and MS IIS do. It's also a term used in WordPress Network (formerly Multisite). Some other CMSes also use "URL mapping" for redirections, SEO friendly URLs or something related to that.

    According to me URL mapping is another name of URL redirection when you rewrite URLs of your website.

      And that's why I asked for clarification. It's just confusing to randomly use another name for redirection, isn't it?

      Usually there's some reason to call the function or whatever you have "mapping". Some CMSes have a tool where you configure the URL space. In WP you "map" a new domain to answer to the same address that one of your multisite instances is already using.
