Forum Posting Question

The backlinks that come from Angela say that you don't need to post to a forum to get a link, you usually just put your links in your signature on your profile.

Another backlink package that I just signed up for says that you should put the links in your signature, but then post 1 thing in the forum to get the backlink.

Is the 1 post really necessary, or can I still get the backlink just from posting in the signature?

Thanks,
Scott

You will get tons of links from just a signature. BUT you will need to post regularly to get them.

The answer is yes, you will get a backlink that gets picked up by Google from just a signature link in your profile... but it depends on the forum system being used.

Here's a good way to find out:

    1. Register and confirm
    2. Log in
    3. Go to the User CP
    4. Go to Edit Signature
    5. Put your live link in your signature & save it
    6. Log out
    7. Go to the forum index page
    8. Scroll to the bottom and look for your user name as the Newest Member
    9. Click that link
    10. If you see your signature with the link AND if it's DoFollow...

You're golden! The progression is homepage ---> link to your profile ---> link in signature to your site

As long as that progression exists, then when Google spiders that forum index page again (and higher PR forum index pages get spidered a lot!), your sig link will get picked up just fine.
