I'm new to SEO, but not new to the concepts and fundamentals. I did alot of research. Watched alot of videos for SEO. I've built a few pages long small website to target a niche and I've been trying to rank it but I've been seeming to fail everytime. I made this website 5 days ago and I still havn't seen any notable progress. I'll tell you everything I've done so far. The website is good looking, better than others I'd say. The only problem is I can't get it off the ground. I kno`w that I've monetized my website with Clickbank's products pretty neat but the problem is that I don't have any visitors. It's not even in the first 10 pages of google bing or etc. My main keyword which is a single word reaches search volume for 110,000 a month, with not much competition. i couldn't see anyone in the first page of google even having the keywords name in their url's at first. the rest of the subdomains I've created within the website target smaller niche's within my niche like 'how to do (niche name)' and is (niche name) real'. I havn't progressed in any of them. I came to realize that I had to build links so I started using a tumblr account I made a 2 years ago. It has 300 followers and counting and keep posting funny pictures with my websites link on it cloaked with an anchor text of my keyword and it does get reblogged and liked (around 2-3 reblogs and 4-5 likes per picture). Yesterday I also started posting on niche related forums. I basically went to 4 different forums and participated, and naturally interacted with the fellow members after putting my websites link in my signature. I also thanked alot of people and added a few as friends so there would be more 'juice' in my accounts linking back at my website (read about this somewhere). I've made sitemaps for google and bing and uploaded both of them. I used google webmaster and analytics to keep track of what's happening. My domain and all my sub domains have been indexed by google, I checked. But when I use a tool like google page rank checker it doesn't show any of my domain or sub domain other than one. I'm actually really confused at what I'm doing wrong and thinking about dropping the plan. I've tried SEO even two years before and also 2 and a half years before but I always failed in ranking my self. Any help would be appreciated.

The first thing I have to tell you is not much competition with a keyword 110,000 monthly search does not mean anything. It's about Google ads, not SEO competition.

I don't know why you want to rank a single word keyword ? It is very difficult and not bring you good result.
I recommend you find long tail keyword to rank your blog first.

About backlink, your link building strategy is not effective. You should build backlink from article (I mean long text, not short text like signature or profile). Of course, backlink from domain with good SEO metrics.

Page rank now is not meaning for SEO, you should care about Page authority, Trust flow, Citation flow, Backlink profile.

-Google Ads? How do I check Google ADs competition. Any walkthrough links?
-I'm not just targeting a single word. I have long tail keywords in my website that I want to rank for mainly. I've made a few pages that have the exact title as the long the tail keywords have in keyword planner, but still I'm failing.
-How do I use 'long text' backlinks. I don't get it. Please explain a little. And how do I check a websites SEO metrics.

I think your "ENTER" key is not working... anyway nice to read and note that genuine SEO (that you are doin) would take some time to get results in search engines but it will stay in top of results for very long time.

The keyword you researched having 110,000 monthly searches and the competition you looked on keyword planner tool is not SEO competition. This competition is for adwords advertisers.

I think you should research keyword with low SEO competition and optimize it with both on page SEO and off page SEO with unique high quality content and wait for some days and see the results!

    Good luck!

I really dont understand why you are using the google page rank checker , it's certainly not used to find out if a domain/subdomain is indexed in Google

If you tried SEO 2 years ago and are trying the same methods then maybe this is your problem.. You need to do some research and bring yourself up to speed with how SEO should be done, whats working and what you need to stay away from..

I'd be very surprised to hear that you saw notable process in five days. If you got most of your site indexed, congrats! That's about the place you can be at this point.

I'm hoping that this is not your method of evaluating your competition. Having the keyword in URLs isn't mandatory, although it's often a good idea. You should see the actual articles.

Google hasn't been about exact search phrases for years. They're trying to parse the topics and meaning of the article which is why they often rank stuff that doesn't even mention the exact search phrase.

Also, do check how strong the competitors are backlink-wise. I like to use Moz toolbar for Google searches because you get sort of quick and dirty score of your competitors.

As someone pointed out your backlink methods are bad. Tumblr is sort of ok-ish, but it can't be the mainstay of your link building. Forum links are just pointless in most cases.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

I did used Mozbar. Thanks for everything.
I just want to know whats the most effective way of building backlinks? I thought tumblr gave me the most powerful backlinks. I've also used reddit the first time today.

Been there down that. Before you even build a site you need to have traffic sources, social media, youtube, "how to" sites, etc, to get traffic from. Even if you have the best SEO'd site, without links it wont rank. You can use alexia to check where you competition gets it traffic from. I firgured it out the hard way, don't waste you time trying to find a "Low competition" niche, write about something that you know, or are interested in, figure a way to make money from it, and go from there. I ended up making a bunch of related sites, linked them together, and have been semi-successful ranking them. I have 2 sites that come up on the second page.

Well you shouldn't expect good results in such a short amount of time.... It could take months if not years to get a profitable website up.I think the key here is consistency... You need to be building links everyday not just once a week or however long you do.

    Thanks and goodluck

A 5 day old site is lucky to even be fully indexed let alone take on established competition.
