It could be a few things happening...
    • If you're trying to rank a blog style Home page where the content changes nonstop, your ranked page will bounce around the SERPs until you stop updating the Home page.
    • It could be lost backlinks.
    • It could be weak backlinks.
    • It could be competition doing their own SEO, where Google algo is constantly tweaking the SERPs for your target keywords.

Try ranking for the same keyword with another internal page on the same domain that has a similar page title & similar on-page text. Keep both pages unique.

Next, build backlinks to the 2nd internal page.

Next, add an internal link with keyword anchor-text pointing at the page you're trying to rank right now.

Repeat as needed building up relevancy & authority.

Maybe look into how SEO Silos work.

Bottom line is your current ranking is weak, so, build up authority.

site is 10 years... its gadgetleader.com (NOTE: NOT TRYING TO GET A BACKLINK JUST NEED FEEDBACK)

Thats an extremely interesting technique... so say the niche is..umm flashlights. So i would have a page about survival flashlights and then one about handy flashlights and they would both use the same keywords? or atlease share a few common ones?

Exactly, you can structure your site to piggyback off relevant internal pages, that's how double & triple SERPs is done. Keep in mind you still need a source of strong inbound backlinks from other domains to get the ball rolling (authority source has to originate from somewhere on the web).

      Example, URLs:
      • hxxp://www.wayfair.com/Billiards-C410321.html
      • hxxp://www.wayfair.com/Pool-Tables-C410322.html

Google knows the keyword billiards & pool table are basically the same thing (relevancy).

Double SERP screenshot of the same URLs/pages ranked on Google SERPs for the the keyword buy pool table.

My guess is weak links. And the trick to getting ranked is good links and build them consistently.

    Thanks

Well a "strong link" would come from a place that has a high page rank. I'm not sure whats popular in your niche but a link from a leader in what your in would be good.

This is some sound advice guys.. I'll take this to heart and follow it. Maybe then I can finally get stabilized rankings for once.

One more question.. Is it safe to buy backlinks? I've seen a lot of ads but I can never be sure.

Sure it's safe, If Google doesn't know about it.

If it's a public sales page advertising buying backlinks for SEO, forget it.
