Hi just a few quick questions..

The case:
Let's say you have a new website (1-2 months), you are writing quality content on low competition keywords. You are doing the writing seo friendly with yoast or something.. you make about 20 high quality selfwritten articles 700-1500 words each. Related alt tagged pictures, the whole mish-mash.
Whats the best approach when it comes to off-page SEO?

Shall i first let them age for a few months see how they will do on natural ranking. Then try to build links later? Or shall i outsource my offpage SEO right at the start?

PS. all articles are indexed by google but with positions 50-60.

Strong on-page SEO can help your site to rank at a good position in Google.

How low competition are we talking? I've done very well ranking my fitness site on keywords with zero off-page optimization (no links or anything). However, it took around 60 days from posting for it to climb up the SERPs.

I also started at position 50 or 60, took a while to hit first page, and then slowly climbed up to first.

Mind you, I'm talking very little competition here. Either way, so long as on-page is done right, I'd focus on other things for a while and see if they climb on their own. If not, throw a couple quality links at them.

Well it is hard to say how low. I find my keywords with Long Tail Pro with MOZ integration. I also double check them on keyword inspector. If both say its "very easy" or "easy" i go for it, else i don't.
I also manually check if the top 10 results have the KW intitle and inurl. I usually go for some more hidden niches or deep sub-niches where the competition is usually low.

That's ok If you're just starting out but you're probably skipping a lot of easy to rank keywords.

Having a keyword in the page title doesn't mean the #1 ranked page did any SEO. For all you know that one page is only ranked because nobody else did SEO or had the keyword in their page title.

          Thanks for your reply.
Yes i will be checking other keywords too, the MOZ integration in Long Tail is really handy, shows me how many backlinks the top 10 competitors have and if they pass any juice or not.

So shall i publish my articles and wait for them to rank naturally? What is an acceptable time period after releasing an article to start backlinking it?
