Google Search Console default country can't be changed

I looked in the Google Search Console default country, and it says it's Canada because the domain is a .ca. I did some seaching and it looks like the only way to have it set to "international" is to have a .com. The .com for this URL is available, however the .ca has a Domain Authority of around 92, so I'm not interested in changing it.

My question is this: Will I be able to improve international visibility if I purchase the .com and redirect it to the site?

If you can, frame the response in terms of time vs. money, since it won't cost much or take too much time to purchase and redirect the URL is it worth experiementing with?

Thanks in advance.
