Anyone have any advice on how to knock off websites from the first page for the keyword of a company's name? There are a couple bloggers who have posted defamatory blog posts about a company I work with.

I have tried the usual: social media accounts, press releases, youtube videos, slideshows, documents etc...sending back links to these authority links and every time I knock them off the first page, they pop back up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You don't knock off websites, this isn't the mafia.

The best you can do is outrank the problem domain/page. Junk up the SERPs with stuff like Youtube videos If needed to push the problem page to page #2 or #3 of the search results. It works assuming you're not up against an authority site/page..

This requires ongoing maintenance. You won't be able to setup a few accounts and leave it alone. If you've made success knocking some properties off the first page, then you will need to maintain those properties with fresh content, links etc. In addition, you will need to look at sustaining other methods to ensure some of your properties stay on the first page - Directories, content blogs, inhouse company review pages, etc.

    Here's an idea...

Register domain names or create content about '[your company] scam'...

...that way YOU control the content that is on those pages.

Why would you wanna to do that?
They have name of your company on page #1 with no effort on your behalf... be happy
People will visit your site just to find what the hell that blog is talking about.

Bad publicity is better than no publicity just ask DMOZ
People are spitting all over it for years and if you ask yourself "would I want to be listed in DMOZ?"
I bet you would say yes before I will finish asking you or anyone else my question.
