Is PBN worth the effort ?

I am talking about a manually created web 2.0 Private blog .
If I make a new PBN for the purpose of generating links to my moneysite, the PBN starts off as a fresh site with no PR and no link juice to pass on.
So first of all I need to create backlinks to my PBN for it to have any kind of PR to pass on to my money site.
Secondly I need to make some content for the PBN too.

I am thinking if I have to anyways make new content for my PBN would it not be a better option to make that content in the Blog section of my money site itself and the time and effort to make backlinks to the PBN diverted to make backlinks to my blog posts.
The effect will be same ? or will there be any difference ?
Or is there a different way to make PBN ?

I think that Web 2.0 private networks are generally a horrible idea. You put in all the time and effort to make them something worthwhile and then they can be shutdown at any moment without any notice. You don't own them. Also, there is always the chance of Web 2.0 sites changing to nofollow like HubPages.

Put your money on PBNs, buy good domains, add content, it can be spinned (but unique). And leave no footprints for Google and other "evil" marketers out there.

My web 2.0 does wonders. If you get high PA web 2.0 your good to go.

      And think about link diversity.

All Web 2.0's start with a PA of 0. I would rather work to increase the authority of pages I actually own and on which there are no restrictions.

And no. I will not think about link diversity. Link diversity is a stupid myth.

Using social signals with some Web 2.0 sites can be effective. You send social signals to your web 2.0, 3 or 4 sites, and then link to your money site.
Also, getting a expired PBN domain with great metrics can be a great way to increase your rankings.
All of this needs to look somewhat natural. So for each site have one link tunnel. In other words, social signals to a web 2.0 linked to a money site. Same for each of the others. Do not interlink the web 2.0s or you take a chance of a G slap.

Web 2.0 are only good when used as Tier 1 and 2 but are not powerful as PBN sites.
