How to find Low Competition Keywords with SEMRush

I realize this technique isn't new but this is basically how to do it.

Step 1: Throw a massive content farm into SemRush, in this case I choose selfgrowth.com

Step 2: Where it says "Top Organic Keywords" click on "View Full Report."

Step 3: Make a new filter, choose "Pos" and then "Less than" and then "11." This will only show us results where the content is ranked on the first page.

Step 4: Where it says "Volume" click on the arrow pointing down.

Here's a Picture

Step 5: Look for anything that seems like it would be an interesting keyword. I've circled one that is certainly interesting.

Step 6: Take a look at the actual SERP, you are looking for domains that have low link counts and low DA. These metrics are not completely accurate, it's just an estimate. With experience, you can make an educated decision about the real difficulty of the keyword.

Fun Fact: the 3rd tab I had open in the first 2 images, happens to share the most ranking keywords with Ezinearticles.com

And no, I'm not a member of that forum.

I discovered this the other day, created a site in a very low competition niche with good traffic and CPC. I am slowing climbing Google ( 28 of keywords so far according to Semrush ) without doing anything aside writing the articles.

I have managed to create 5 sites using this method above. I wish I knew earlier. Could fetch me good money easily.

Question : How did you get that toolbar that shows the domain authority and page authority to come up?

      It's a plugin called mozbar.

I checked all the tools I have access to at the moment. Not seeing anything scary anywhere. Obviously none of them have all of the links that google does.

When working with low comps, ahrefs is usually filled with junk. I really don't care about their domain health check backlinks, all the dropped links, and all that other garbage. Usually SR/Moz find the important links and only a bit of the junk. Here's the ahrefs report if you're interested.

What I'm about to say is inherently BS (and I know this) but I want to say it anyways. I'm the most concerned about the links in Moz/SR because if those tools found them, that generally means those links are good (I know that's not necessarily true.) The crawl depth of those tools is probably %.01 of Google, so if they show up in both tools then those are the links I worry about.

The only way to truly evaluate the competition level of a keyword would be to build a multi tier spreadsheet for each position in the serp and use data from every tool available. That's a lot of work, no thanks. If the estimations are wrong, that just means you need more links. SR KW difficulty was ~70, moz was thumbs uping the keyword, and I only see about 150 followed links (almost all of them are garbage) in Ahrefs.

Way too much thought went into this I have no plans on making a site about that keyword.

Edit: But maybe I should, it seems like an easy way to get 1-2k UV a month.

Also, #5 (happymassage) in the serp, almost looks like an escort site (actually it is) and I doubt it would survive a manual review. So if you're stuck in the #6 spot, it shouldn't require any SEO at all to get to #5.
