Google and Sponsored Posts

If I pay for an article to be written on a blog about my website, and the blogger mentions this is a sponsored post, will this have an effect on any SEO ranking?

The reason why I ask, I have heard recently if the blogger mentions sponsored posts or similar words within the blog posting this can affect your Google ranking or maybe any potential SEO influence the website where the posting originated from. I’m assuming Google can now detect these types of blog postings more easily.

Your feedback is always appreciated.

It's possible that Google devalues those kind of links, but my understanding is that it's more about the linking site. If they're constantly running guest posts or paid reviews, and the relative number of those posts is high compared to their "normal" content, it's possible that all of their links get demoted.

At least that's the theory. Just for contrast, PBNs are still doing just fine.
    Signature
Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?
