Hello forum,

Kind of new here although I have been online a while. A question came up and I thought maybe you folks could help me with it. About 6 weeks ago I started a new blog your online handyman.com I have been driving decent traffic considering how new my blog is. Now someone has asked me to place a text link ad within several of my posts. I find this unusual being that I am so new and don't even have a page rank yet. My questions are, Why would someone do this? Will this hurt my site with Google? And last, how much could I charge?

I very much appreciate any help that I can get!

    Hello,

There have been a lot of spam "we want to advertise on you website" requests lately.
These typcially come with no contact information whatsoever.

If you are receiving legitimate advertising requests then seen the link below for a further
discussion on placing paid links on your website:

    All The Best,

Thanks Tony, but this one looks very legit ( I think ) The guy says that he represents a large company that I am not going to mention here and showed me his site. We have been in contact and I have his name, company name and email. Since I have a PR of 0 I am still trying to figure out why he wants to link to me - that seems a little funny.

The question is what if he is for real. I do not want to hurt my PR rank when Google comes around again, but I would like to make some money if I can.

I'm thinking 10 - 15 dollars a month if he is real, but still trying to figure out, why my site.

        Hi becks,

I find nothing odd about wanting a link on a site that doesn't have any green on the toolbar. If he's a pro and from the way you describe him, he is, he understands that toolbar pagerank is not important. This is a common misconception.

When purchasing links, I believe the most important factor is targeted traffic. I could care less what your PR is, it's not important to me, your traffic is.

This is something that is so obvious, yet many people don't get it. Why would you want a little green line more than targeted traffic? That green line does nothing for you, yet targeted traffic is worth cash money.

I liken that little green line to a Jedi Mind Trick. It keeps my competition dazed and confused while I scoop up all the best traffic.

If you happen to be one of those little green line worshipers, please no offense intended, keep moving, nothing to see here, just keep moving. Oh, and thanks for the traffic.

thank you both for the help! New at selling links, but I want to make money! I am not going to worry about Google right now, I don't really care for them anyway considering the price that they were charging me when I was doing adwords. I think that I am going to ask this guy for $15 per month, per link with a 1 year commitment or $500 for all 3.

I really appreciate the help. I can see why this forum is so well respected and I will stop in more often. Thanks again!

One name which is really famous for text link is Kontera. But they really pay very very less. I tried it but after few months I withdraw them. I just want that my visitors should click on adsense only.

Advertising is what we make money with our sites but I think its not appropriate... If it is an inline text ad and he is willing to pay then go on.

Well I am not clear what you are asking but however let me clear.

    # If you have good and original contain than you can go instantly and first step if Google Adsense.

    # They will not charge anything infact they will pay you to put their ads on your websites.

    # PR is not at all related with the traffic, PR is just telling you about your backlinks and quality of your posts.

    So anytime you can start.
