In this segment, is seo worth it?

I have been planning an online digital greeting company the last year and half. I am still in development and will have a subscription model (monthly & yearly). Users can share greetings via social media channels.

Other than seo, I will be using different channels of online marketing and direct marketing.
I searched on 7search and there are two main keywords ex. (greetings, e-cards) that only get 16,000 searches per month. There are no long tail keywords that go above that number that I have found.

As a web developer/designer I plan on teaching myself seo and putting in the hard work to see results. My question is given the low amount of hits for this category, is it even worth putting in the work to gain some of that traffic? Realistically, it would be hard to gain that entire market.

Would I be better off just utilizing social media channels.
Any advice is appreciated.

    7search has nothing to do with organic SEO.

    Use the Google Keyword Planner (free) for longtail keyword ideas.

    Thanks for the quick reply. Ok, here are the results, which are better. I used the trick and typed in Hallmark's website to see what keywords people search for. No given this info, is it worth pursuing or will it be like pushing a boulder up a mountain to to take on the 40,000 and up words. What words do you recommend that I target for online digital greetings?

    As stated above use the Google Keyword Planner. There will be a ton of long tail keywords with good monthly search volume. Just remember the higher the search volume and the more generic they are then the more competition there will likely be. Don't try to run before you can walk and work out how to hit some of the lower hanging fruit initially so you can build yourself some authority before going after the big guys and the top keywords.

    Makes sense. To gain authority at the beginning what cap should I not go past? 10,000, 15,000?

      That's not how it works.

      You're not going to all of a sudden learn SEO & knock down established ranked pages for 10k to 15k traffic per month keywords on organic SERPs.

      Be realistic.

      It's fine to target high traffic keywords but don't think you're going to rank when you've just now decided to learn SEO. No offense but 3 post ago you thought 7search was a search engine. You have a lot to learn, start with easier competition keywords.
