Manually Reaching Out To Aquire Backlinks

I usually just figure, "hey you're in business, I'm in business" and try to work something out. I really do like Yukon's example, I never thought about the networking potential. But it's kind of forced down your throat on social sites.

Article marketing is pretty solid for me. I usually say something like "I wrote this content for my site and realized I kind of covered some of this stuff on my site before. I really don't want to put it on some junk article directory and I want people to read it."

To people wondering why article marketing is effective: If you want to feed me a 1000 word pillar of quality, original, content for a backlink, I'll post it, sure whatever. $50-200 worth of quality content for free, the link off my site doesn't do that much. I know a thing or two about this technique and something tells me that article is going to get enough links to it to out weigh the loss anyways.

Edit: To be clear, I know what Mike is saying here. Emailing people asking for links doesn't really work unless you have some way to provide value. What he probably meant to say was something like: if you have a good strategy and are targeting a site, the least preferred way to contact that webmaster is via email. It's pretty much a last resort, but I will do it and some people/organizations prefer email.

I've tried this and they called it link building email outreach. I do it manually like extracting their name and email addresses and copy and paste it into the google spreadsheet.

This type of task is so boresome but if you have deep pockets, you can outsource it.
