This sounds good, but it is not that easy, i tried to do this month back but didnt get any success, can you show me the method to do so ? or any other method for doing this.

Alexa is completely useless for any purpose. Don't stare at those numbers, they're just a glorified guess.

So you have a competitor? Spy on them then. Run a backlink checker such as Majestic or Ahrefs, and try to see if you can get backlinks from some of the same sources that they've been using. Just make sure that those links aren't useless.

I have no idea why you'd need step by step guide. You can do the legwork yourself, and Google for the techniques that you don't understand yet.

Hi nettiapina, thanks for the advice, your language is really harsh but you always say truth and I appreciated that. Thanks for guiding. I am already keeping an eye on the backlinks my competitors have gained but most of the backlinks he has gained is from some useless sites (not in his niche) but still in semrush it shows they are having 1k+ backlinks which makes me sad a lot

secondly I have already started linking my domain on different forums and blogs for backlinks, can you guide when they will start reflecting or helping me to gain traffic ?

You can safely ignore the total number of backlinks. Well, in most cases anyway. Wether the links really help them depend on the actual links, but if your competitor is running an average business site they probably only have a handful of links that are useful to them. And if you've spotted random-looking forums and blog comments those are probably not the good links.

Did you try to filter the backlinks with Majestic or Ahrefs? You should be able to quickly spot the ones that the tool of your choice sees as strong links. It's fairly unlikely that you'd have more than a few dozen links that are even worth looking at.

If you're runnign a business I'd see if there's some good (often paid) business directories in your niche or geographical area. If you've got partners of you're a member of some industry group see if they'd be willing to backlink your site.

I'll surely look into what you have said, well I dont have a site related with business but it is related with wallpaper, quotes and status for whatsapp, fb and other chat messengers. So I think only i have to work hard to get quality backlinks, by the way can you tell me how fast backlinks are indexed or can be seen if they are linked with you ?

Could someone clarify whether a backlink is a "dofollow" link or it is just a normal URL link of your landing page of your website?

Either way if other blog posts or websites advertise your article with a URL link of the home page will this be classifed as a backlink to Google and count toward your page ranking?
