To Use a Sub-Domain or Directory Page?

I am wanting to build a new website directory for a service industry. I currently own the Exact Match Domain for that service but I I'm currently using it as a lead gathering squeeze page. Would you recommend I use a Sub-Domain or Directory Page for my new service directory?
For example:
EMD = www.plumber
www.directory.plumber
www.plumber/directory
Or perhaps I'm better off having the squeeze page on a /directory page, and use the main EMD for my new Service Directory.
