Clarification with Backlinks

I have read about backlinks and the dofollow and nofollow html code that you can also attach to your link when doing guest posts etc.

I was wondering whether someone could clarify:

-For jumping up in page ranks in google, does the link need to be a "dofollow"?

-I have been trying to make baclinks with just the plain URL with no "dofollow" html attached.

Could someone summarise whether an external website has your URL and article posted on their site, will this be classifed as a backlink to Google and count toward your page ranking? Or does the URL need to be a "dofollow" for Googles algorithms etc to pick it up?

Thanks in advance

All the links that do not have rel="nofollow" are "followed" in that sense. There's no "dofollow", it's just the default state.

However, not all "followed" links are useful for your SEO efforts. In fact many are not.

This is what we in the industry refer in technical terms as "scammer posting total BS". The number of visitors isn't even a ranking factor. But if you're stupid enough to order something from this spammer you probably don't mind the quality you're getting.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

In my experience, both do-follow and no-follow links help your rankings, as long as they come from respectful websites with high rank.

Also, you need the no-follow links in order for your link profile to appear as "natural" to google's eyes (a normal website will not have only do-follow backlinks).

Regarding the plain text link, i have seen such links in webmaster tools and ahrefs, but i am not sure if they will stay there or how much power they will give your website.

The overal advise is keep building.
