SERPS not improving

Hello! My first post on the forum but I've been reading here for some time!

I recently started a new site (also my first site actually). And it's been running for about two months.

I've made my "money page" with reviews which is about 4000 words and looks great and in the beginning I just had two supporting blog posts with 500+ words. All this without backlinks got me to 48 on google which I guess is a good start for my long-tail keyword. But I was slow with adding more content and it suddenly got up to around 100 where it stays stedily now even though I've added more good content and built up som social profiles and social bookmarking but nothing seems to happen.

And I've been around 100 for 2 weeks now.

My main question is, does it seems to be a more fatal flaw or do I need to just keep adding more good content and let the site grow older. Or does it seem to be too competetive (maybe hard to say).

    It is impossible to rank a website with quality content and without backlinks. You need more good backlinks.

      Okay, that was what I was afraid of. So keep adding good content, giving it time and keep on building good backlinks.

      Any tips on what or where to start? It's kind of new to me and its a seemingly big djungle.

        You don't need to keep adding content to get good rankings. Whoever told you that lied to you. In fact, if you don't understand what you are doing and depending on the site structure, adding content can actually hurt your rankings more than help them.

          Well, what i've learned is that google favours a site that have has more content than the ones that have less and that a fequent stream of new content is good.

          What I have is a "money page" with reviews and 5 blogposts between 500 to 1000 words. And my guess is that iI would need to add like 1 new a week or whatever. Maybe not. Would the ones I have be sufficent If it's high quality content?

          And link building wise any tips and do's & don't?

            What you learned is not correct.

            Now there are ways you could add content to strengthen the site, but just adding content doesn't matter. There are TONS of sites that are ranking #1 and have not been updated in a decade.

    The stuff with "more content" is many times misunderstood. No one (maybe someone who don't know what is talking about) ever said that more content is good. The thing is to deliver quality content to visitors. More is not equal to quality.
